Idrissa Gana Gueye labelled ‘ridiculous’ for what he did in Everton win vs Fulham

David Moyes will be delighted to send Everton into the international break with a win on Saturday.

Everton knew Fulham would be no easy pushover, but the Toffees still managed to get the job done with a solid 2-0 win at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, shooting them back up the Premier League table.

Thierno Barry showed his promise against Fulham, as the Frenchman did everything right against the Cottagers, but just couldn’t find that goal he still craves.

Idrissa Gana Gueye opened the scoring for the Toffees after a long period of pinball in Fulham’s box, making no mistake when it eventually dropped to him.

However, it was Gueye’s energy throughout the game which impressed Everton fans and Patrick Boyland the most on 8 November.

Patrick Boyland cannot believe what Idrissa Gana Gueye is doing

Gueye is now 36 and coming towards the back end of his playing career, but he is still dominating at the highest level in England.

His goal was rightly celebrated, but what Everton fans may not have noticed was how much he ran against the Cottagers.

Boyland was watching the match and couldn’t help but praise Gueye’s “ridiculous” work rate, while commenting on X.

Boyland said: “Gana’s energy at 36 – just ridiculous.”

However, Everton fans may cheer now, but it wasn’t long ago that Gueye almost left the Blues.

Gueye has proved lots of Everton fans wrong

Moyes was always looking to change things up in the summer transfer window, and Gueye was tipped for an Everton exit.

Merlin Rohl was brought to Merseyside in the summer and may have been seen as an improvement on Gueye, who did sign a new contract in the end to extend his stay.

However, Gueye has so far proved this season that he does not want to let his position go any time soon, and is easily keeping his place in the side.

If Everton are to be successful this season, then Gueye will play an instrumental role in being the glue for the Toffees that makes everything work, as he allows others around him to flourish.

Everton fans will be delighted that their midfield man stayed for one more season, and who knows? It could turn into yet another year.
