Friedkin Group risk Everton own goal amid Joshua Zirkzee transfer approach
Everton supporters may be baffled by the Friedkin Group’s latest move when it comes to Joshua Zirkzee.
The Friedkins also control AS Roma, which could lead to conflict in the transfer market if both sides fancy a certain player, and Everton are supposedly interested in Zirkzee.
A report from the Daily Mirror on 13 November claimed that Roma have made an approach to the Red Devils and Zirkzee‘s representatives over a move for the Dutchman.
It states that the Italian club are offering a loan deal with the potential for an option to buy, with the player perhaps preferring a return to Serie A.

Friedkin Group risk Everton backlash after Zirkzee latest
The report claims that Everton are one of the sides competing with Roma for the Old Trafford wantaway in the winter transfer window.
The Blues are desperately in need of a striker, so signing one that they want for their other club, is a baffling move from the American ownership.
The Dutch star clearly needs a move away from United, as shown by the Sofascore graphic below, but many Blues fans will feel like they should be the destination.

They may incur the anger of Toffees fans for the first time, if they go ahead with that move.

Everton should be the premier club in the Friedkin’s portfolio
The Blues should be the number one club in the Friedkin’s portfolio for several reasons.
For starters, there is much more money involved in the Premier League, so it is surely more profitable for the Americans if David Moyes‘ side are successful.
Secondly, while both sides have won 15 trophies each in their history, the L3 side are arguably more successful.
The Blues have won nine league titles in their history, while the Italians have three league crowns to their name.
They both have one European trophy, Everton with the 1985 Cup Winners’ Cup and Roma with the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2022.
The Rome-based side have nine Coppa Italia wins to the English side’s five FA cups, but league success is considered the bigger indicator of domestic success, so the Toffees surely edge it.
Finally, the squad at Moyes’ disposal needs much more work than their other investment, so they should be the priority and bringing Zirkzee to Italy rather than Merseyside makes little sense.
