Idrissa Gueye may not be seen in an Everton shirt for a while after he was given his marching orders against Manchester United.

Gueye was sent off for Everton after getting into a scuffle with Michael Keane.

However, the midfielder is now set for a substantial time away from the pitch, with a three-match ban expected for the Senegal international.

Idrissa Gueye may not be back for Everton until late January 2026

As it stands, it is likely that Gueye will be banned for three matches in the Premier League.

This will see the Senegal international miss their upcoming home tie against Newcastle on 29 November.

Following this, David Moyes’ side have an away trip to Bournemouth on 2 December, and another home tie against Nottingham Forest on 6 December.

  • Gueye is set to miss Everton's next three Premier League games
  • The midfielder was sent off for violent conduct, which usually results in a three-match ban
  • It remains to be seen if Everton appeal against the decision

After this, the midfielder may make his comeback in their away trip to Chelsea on 13 December.

However, Gueye may be called up for AFCON before this fixture, as he looks to win silverware with Senegal.

The tournament is set to last until 18 January 2026, meaning the 36-year-old may not return to the field for the Toffees until the new year.

Tim Iroegbunam could now have big chance at Everton

Tim Iroegbunam was perhaps unlucky to be dropped against Manchester United, given his great performance in the victory over Fulham.

However, given Gueye’s absence, the youngster may be given a chance by Moyes to cement his place in the starting XI permanently.

According to Sofascore on 24 November, Gueye was not great against Man United even before his red card, and had already lost possession three times.

Therefore, with Iroegbunam likely already knocking on the door, the midfielder will be licking his lips at the potential opportunity now presented to him.
