Everton involved in Toni Fruk transfer update after talks held in London

Everton reportedly have their eye on Croatian international Toni Fruk ahead of the January transfer window.

With the winter market just weeks from opening David Moyes is looking to strengthen to push for European football, with a right-back on his wish list.

Everton are also thought to be interested once more in Conor Gallagher at Atletico Madrid, while his former Chelsea teammate Tyrique George has also been linked to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

HNK Rijeka’s Fruk, 24, looks like he could be on the move next month with developments starting to emerge over a possible switch.

Everton interested as Fruk to Arsenal is denied

It appears the Premier League could be his most likely destination as Football London’s Ryan Taylor reports meetings have been held in London this week with interested parties.

That is said not to include league-leaders Arsenal, with sources close to the player denying any contact with Mikel Arteta’s side.

Everton and Brighton are named as clubs who are in the frame for Fruk, but are reported to have only made “routine checks” on him and it is not known if either side were involved in the talks held over Monday and Tuesday in the capital.

It is said to be “too early” to determine if the Toffees would be willing to launch a concrete bid for Fruk, who is currently the joint-top scorer in Croatia with eight.

His priority currently is to secure regular minutes wherever he goes ahead of the World Cup next summer, having won his first five international caps this year, and his agent Andy Bara is seemingly working on it.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall blocks Fruk

Fruk would appear to fit a very similar mould as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as a goalscoring attacking-midfielder who has the versatility to operate from various positions.

The former Chelsea squad player has been a stand-out performer for Moyes this season and has scored in three of his last four Premier League appearances.

The Toffees are arguably well stocked in that sort of position, with Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye also capable of moving around the line-up, and Charley Alcaraz also an option.

It appears Arsenal are out of the picture and there is reason to believe Everton would be an attractive proposition for players looking to move to the Premier League, but if Fruk is keen to secure a regular spot to get to the World Cup he might not be so interested this term, at least while Grealish is still in situ.
