Youssouf Chermiti could hand Everton transfer boost as sell-on clause activation looms

Youssouf Chermiti left Everton having not provided much impact, but the Portuguese forward could help the Toffees sooner than thought through his sell-on clause.

After arriving in Merseyside, Chermiti only featured for Everton for 295 minutes throughout his spell and failed to score a single goal.

Now at Rangers, the 21-year-old is getting much more game time, providing nine goals throughout the season so far in Scotland.

His performances have seemingly begun catching the eyes of other outfits around Europe, and just a year on from leaving Everton, he could be on the move again.

An exit out of Everton was the best move for all parties, and now the Toffees could benefit once more from his sale.

How Youssouf Chermiti can deliver Everton transfer boost

According to Dutch outlet Eindhovens Dagblad, PSV are tracking Chermiti, with the Glasgow club holding out for at least "double-digit millions" to sanction a sale.

However, the Friedkin Group will be keenly keeping watch as Everton included a sell-on clause when they sold Chermiti to Rangers.

The money the Toffees receive will only be a currently unknown percentage of any profit the Scottish club make on the striker. However, it is said that the sell-on clause is significant.

With the Gers buying the Portuguese forward for £8million, a double-digit fee would guarantee that profit was made.

While Chermiti failed to produce the goods for Everton and was ultimately a flop, he may now indirectly boost his former employers.

Funds from the sell-on clause could potentially be placed towards new signings at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

How much profit could Rangers make on Chermiti?

Rangers rejected advances from Fenerbahce in January for Chermiti for £13m, which would represent £5m profit for the Glasgow side.

If the Scottish outfit were to accept a fee of that level in the summer, here is how much Everton could rake in.

With Everton's sell-on clause being labelled as "significant", you would expect the minimum to be at least 10 per cent.

• If 10 per cent sell on clause - £500,000
• If 15 per cent sell on clause - £750,000
• If 20 per cent sell on clause - £1m

Overall, while the figures may not be much, in the world of financial restrictions in football, every source of income can go a long way.

Hopefully, the blue side of Glasgow can negotiate a higher fee than the £13m they previously rejected, as that could bring Everton even more money.
