Everton on fool’s errand with Liam Delap as Chelsea want new goalscorer
Everton continue to monitor Chelsea striker Liam Delap ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
According to the Daily Mail on 9 April, the London outfit want to sign a new goalscorer in the summer and the Toffees are waiting to see what that would mean for the former Ipswich Town forward’s future.
Newcastle United are also keeping an eye on the English attacker’s situation, and both clubs believe he would benefit from a consistent run of games.
It looks like the Merseyside outfit haven’t lost faith in the 23-year-old’s potential despite his severe struggles at Stamford Bridge this season and it feels like they’re ready to go on a fool’s errand to sign the number nine.
Delap snubbed Hill Dickinson Stadium last summer and David Moyes arguably needs a better goalscorer to take his team to the next level in the 2026-27 campaign.

Everton set for Thierno Barry repeat with Liam Delap deal
Thierno Barry’s struggles under Moyes have been well-documented, with the striker losing his starting spot to Beto in recent weeks.
The French national was signed for big money from Villarreal last summer but has failed to live up to expectations at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

With the lack of firepower up front an evident issue for the Scottish manager in L3, buying Delap, who has one goal in 22 Premier League appearances, doesn’t make sense.
Last season at Ipswich, the Englishman had 12 league goals, but he’s failed to replicate that form at a club like Chelsea, which goes to show he still has a long way to go before potentially starring at the top level.
David Moyes doesn’t need passengers at Hill Dickinson Stadium
Moyes is hoping to bring success back to Everton and the first step would undoubtedly be getting them back into Europe.
The Toffees are just three points off fifth-place Liverpool and are within reach of a Champions League spot if they maintain consistency for the final seven Premier League fixtures.

Delap’s experience at Chelsea highlights that he needs an arm around his shoulder and a manager willing to play him even when times are rough, but that may not be possible at the Merseyside outfit.
The Friedkin Group are looking upwards and it would make sense to invest in players capable of helping the Scottish manager compete in Europe.
