David Moyes contract talks dismissed at Everton as boardroom division fuels uncertainty
David Moyes dismissed talks of contract discussions with Everton earlier this season, and that could be down to an evident divide behind the scenes at Hill Dickinson.
The Toffees lost 2-1 to West Ham at the London Stadium this Saturday, putting another big dent in the Blues’ hope of achieving a spot for European football.
Lots of Everton fans have highlighted the poor recruitment in the summer following the loss, which again looked like an issue against West Ham.
It seems like there is a divide somewhere in the boardroom, whether that be what the Friedkin Group wants or what someone else wants, and it starts with Moyes.
Everton could have a list of new managers lined up, and that may be telling for the lack of movement regarding Moyes’ unconfirmed long-term stay.

Recruitment is not aligning with David Moyes’ thinking
Moyes likes to focus on the now, and instead, the Friedkin Group have went out and spent plenty of money on players who are for the future.
It’s very unlikely that the likes of Adam Aznou, Tyler Dibling, or even Tyrique George will play a big part from now until the end of the season, and that’s something that all parties will be unhappy with.
| Player | Matches (starts) | Age |
| Adam Aznou | 0 | 19 |
| Tyler Dibling | 14 (4) | 20 |
| Harrison Armstrong (recalled) | 11 (6) | 19 |
| Tyrique George | 8 (1) | 20 |
| Thierno Barry | 34 (20) | 23 |
| Merlin Rohl | 12 (2) | 23 |
Moyes’ use of youth players has been criticised, but if Everton want to go down that route of focusing on young talent, then the former West Ham boss isn’t the man for them, in all honesty.
There’s no right or wrong for the Everton boss, because at the end of the day, he picks the team that he thinks will do best for the Toffees, and if he gets that wrong along with tactics, that’s a different problem.

There has to be someone in the middle that has a big say in transfers and Moyes’ position that doesn’t agree with the way things are going, and that could be multiple people.
If that wasn’t the case, then why has Moyes dismissed talks of a new deal? Maybe it’s because the way this season ends could prompt a change of head coach.
Who would be more suited to Everton than Moyes?
Let’s just say that the Friedkin Group already have a list of replacements for Moyes if they decide on a change, there are some interesting names that could be on there.
The Premier League has seen plenty of managerial changes, with some already confirmed to be departing at the end of the season.
There is uncertainty around the future of Marco Silva at Fulham, who was just recently asked about his stay at Craven Cottage after a 1-0 over Aston Villa. Could the former Everton boss return?
Then there is Andoni Iraola, who is set to leave Bournemouth at the end of the season, along with Oliver Glasner, whose exit from Crystal Palace this summer was confirmed months ago.
Any of these three would most certainly raise eyebrows among the Everton fanbase, with Moyes’ future not 100 per cent certain.
