Jordan Pickford criticism is deserved as Everton form doesn’t bode well with England responsibility
Jordan Pickford is beginning to raise eyebrows at Everton for his recent form, and it comes at the wrong time with a World Cup campaign with England around the corner.
The Toffees have slipped up in the race for a European spot in the Premier League, and some of the blame needs to go to their goalkeeper.
Pickford is a fan favourite at Hill Dickinson, and for good reason, but his form has dipped at a crucial time for both club and country.
There have been many incidents where the goalkeeper should have done better recently, and his performance in the Merseyside derby defeat to Liverpool has been questioned.
Pickford will remain Everton’s number one keeper for at least another year, but could this summer with England be the start of his downfall?

These Jordan Pickford stats tell the truth
Pickford signed a new Everton contract earlier in the season and has suggested that he will retire at Hill Dickinson.
The shot-stopper has served the Toffees for nine seasons now, but this campaign looked to be the one where he could help the club into Europe.
| Game | Saves | Goals prevented | Goals conceded | FotMob rating |
| West Ham vs Everton | 1 | -0.12 | 2 | 6.2 |
| Everton vs Liverpool | 3 | -0.54 | 2 | 6.3 |
| Brentford vs Liverpool | 2 | -0.37 | 2 | 6.0 |
As seen in the table above, Pickford has an average FotMob rating of 6.13 for his last three performances. He has made six saves during that period, but has prevented minus 1.03 in terms of goals, which isn’t good enough.
That’s without mentioning the penalty he gave away against Brentford.

Pickford, on the whole, has had a good season, and that can be seen with his 70.3 per cent save percentage, along with the overall 4.10 goals prevented tally.
However, the 32-year-old will be scaring some England fans.
Gavin Buckland spot on with Pickford conversation
Thomas Tuchel will have most likely not bat an eyelid with Pickford leading into this summer.
However, with the likes of Brighton’s Carl Rushworth and Manchester City’s James Trafford coming through the ranks, the Everton star’s future as the first choice for the Three Lions is uncertain.
Gavin Buckland has hit the nail on the head when talking about Pickford. While speaking for the Liverpool Echo, Buckland said: “He’s way below the standards that he should be setting as England’s number one and Everton’s first-choice goalkeeper.”
He alluded to some goals conceded against Bournemouth, Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, and West Ham as being Pickford’s fault.
The Englishman certainly needs to up his game with an important period coming up for Everton and England.
