Crystal Palace the ideal opponents to get Everton’s European push back on track
Crystal Palace haven’t beaten Everton in the Premier League since 2021.
Everton’s push for a place in European football for next season has stalled, with no Premier League wins in their last four games.
Frustrating defeats to Liverpool and West Ham have been sandwiched between draws with Brentford and Manchester City respectively, with David Moyes‘ side now sitting 10th.
The Toffees haven’t competed in Europe since the 2017-18 season, and a return to continental cup football is something that was made a clear priority in the roadmap when moving to Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Crystal Palace are next up for Everton, and Moyes’ men couldn’t ask for a better team to get their winning mojo back than the Eagles.

What is Everton’s Premier League record vs Crystal Palace?
With only three games to go, Everton do have a favourable run-in on paper, with Crystal Palace, Sunderland and Tottenham respectively their remaining opponents.
Oliver Glasner’s side will enter Sunday’s game on a high after booking their place in the UEFA Conference League final later this month, beating Shakhtar Donetsk 5-2 on aggregate in the semi-finals.
| Palace’s 25-26 PL stats | Result |
| Open play goals | 18 |
| Goals scored per game | 1.1 |
| Goals conceded per game | 1.2 |
| Average possession | 46.4% |
| Big chances missed | 58 |
However, they are on a three-game winless run in the Premier League, and have been dragged to the fringes of the relegation battle, as they sit seven points above 18th-placed West Ham.
So, whilst they will no doubt take that confidence from their Conference League success into their game against Everton, the history books only point towards one winner, and it’s not the Londoners.
Indeed, Everton haven’t lost to Palace in the Premier League since December 2021, when they fell to a 301 defeat at Selhurst Park that year.
Since then, the two sides have contested eight top-flight matches, with the Toffees winning six and drawing the other two, but Everton’s dominance over the Eagles doesn’t stop there.

Since Everton’s 1-0 win over Palace in January 2015, that one aforementioned Eagles win in 2021 is the only time they’ve beaten the Toffees in the Premier League.
Everton hold an all-time Premier League record of 17 wins and 10 draws from their 33 games against Palace, with the Londoners beating the Merseysiders on just six occasions.
What has Crystal Palace’s home record been like this season?
Selhurst Park is one of the most atmospheric venues in the Premier League, with Palace supporters always backing their team and making plenty of noise.
As such, it’s always a test for travelling sides to go there and perform, but Everton, armed with the history books, shouldn’t hold much fear when they go there on Sunday afternoon.
Palace have won only four Premier League games on home soil this season, compared to seven victories they’ve picked up on the road, drawing eight and losing five to boot respectively.
Glasner’s side have therefore been noticeably poorer at home this term, and so it does appear that the stars are aligning for them being Everton’s perfect opponents to get their European push going again.
