Everton: Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall not at the races vs Crystal Palace, stats just as bad as eye test
Everton‘s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall had a poor showing in the 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace on Sunday, with statistics from the game proving so.
The Toffees were unable to keep their lead at Selhurst Park as the Eagles came from behind twice, almost winning the contest in the final few minutes of the game.
Dewsbury-Hall had several chances to get his name on the scoresheet, but, like some of his recent performances, just didn’t look fully focused.
David Moyes will know that the draw severely hampers the Blues’ chances of qualifying for Europe now, and his star Englishman could have done more against Palace.
Dewsbury-Hall has been excellent for Everton this season, but he’s not immune to the criticism that he deserves.

These stats show Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was poor vs Crystal Palace
Everton had multiple poor performances against Crystal Palace, with Michael Keane coming under the microscope for his defending of Ismaila Sarr’s goal.
The Toffees were without Idrissa Gana Gueye and, of course, Jack Grealish, but at this stage of the season, the last few results have not been enough.

Dewsbury-Hall missed one big chance in the 17th minute when his miscontrolled touch worked in his favour, before firing straight at Dean Henderson from close range.
The 27-year-old then went one-on-one with England’s number two once again in the second 45, hesitating and eventually being crowded out by Oliver Glasner’s defenders.
He had a low dribbling success of 20 per cent, completing just one out of his five attempts, while also having a poor 27 per cent ground duel win rate.
The attacking midfielder was dispossessed on two occasions, and didn’t much help his teammates in the final third by creating just one chance.

As highlighted in the graphic above, Dewsbury-Hall had a 6.5 FotMob rating, which ranked among one of the worst scores for the Toffees, just behind the likes of Merlin Rohl, Jake O’Brien, and Vitalii Mykolenko.
Is too much being asked of Dewsbury-Hall?
Dewsbury-Hall has had to step up massively in the absence of Grealish, and it’s a role that he’s not had in the Premier League before.
As strange as it seems, this season is Dewsbury-Hall’s best individual campaign in the Premier League, and by some distance, but he’s still adapting along the way.
There’s no doubt of his star quality, but without Grealish, it’s up to him and Iliman Ndiaye to produce magical moments, with the likes of Rohl and Dwight McNeil the only other attacking “threat”.
Carlos Alcaraz isn’t exactly competition for him either. Perhaps a new attacking midfielder this summer could help spur Dewsbury-Hall on to another level.
