Technical Prowess
Grealish’s best attributes are his ball-carrying skills, possession retention, and ability to draw fouls from opponents. With his ability to drag defenders out of possession, Grealish creates space for overlapping full-backs and deep runs from midfield.
Game Management
Beyond his flair, his intelligence in “buying” fouls in the final third allowed Everton to reset or exploit their aerial strength from dead-ball situations.
Tactical Role
Deployed primarily on the left but with license to drift inside, he acts as the primary creative outlet, often dropping deep to help progress the ball when the opposition press high.
Jack Grealish: Everton rebirth, permanent transfer desire, and injury woe
When Jack Grealish arrived at Everton in the summer of 2025, he was a mercurial talent in desperate need of some love. Grealish was a trophy-winning machine at Manchester City, collecting three Premier League titles, a Champions League, and an FA Cup medal among seven major honours at the Etihad Stadium. But, there was a sense among fans and pundits alike that Grealish – once described as “fabulous” by his now manager David Moyes back in 2020 – had lost some of his creative spark playing under the rigid, technical demands of Pep Guardiola. A loan move to the Toffees seemed a natural fit, and Grealish made a flying start to his temporary stay at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, quickly building a rapport with supporters and rediscovering the sparkle that once made him a £100million signing. A season-ending foot injury sustained in February 2026 has left his long-term future on the blue half of Merseyside shrouded in doubt, but fans remain hopeful a full deal can be struck. For that to happen, though, there is a general feeling that Everton will have to negotiate down a £50m purchase option.
Jack Grealish: 2025-26 Everton season timeline
- August 12, 2025: Deal complete. The Toffees staved off stiff competition to seal a season-long loan move for Grealish in the summer transfer window.
- August 18, 2025: Making his debut. Just six days later, Toffees supporters would get a first glimpse of Grealish in the famous Everton blue, but his appearance off the bench failed to spark a revival in a 1-0 defeat at Leeds United.
- August 24, 2025: Clipping the Seagulls’ wings. While his debut did not go to plan, Grealish’s first start was a stormer, as the maverick winger provided two assists in a 2-0 win over Brighton – a match that represented Everton’s first ever at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
- August 30, 2025: Racking up the assists. Just six days later, Grealish was soaking in the adulation of the visiting supporters at Molineux as he chalked up two more assists in Everton’s 3-2 win at Wolves.
- 12 September, 2025: Player of the Month. Grealish’s flying start may not have earned him the England recall he so dearly craves, but it did see him named as the Premier League’s Player of the Month for August – the first time he had ever won the award.
- 5 October, 2025: Off the mark. Grealish would celebrate his first Everton goal with a 93rd-minute winner against Crystal Palace in a 2-1 triumph.
- 2 December, 2025: Downing Bournemouth. His second Premier League goal for Everton would arrive a couple of months later, with Grealish netting the only goal in a 1-0 triumph over Bournemouth.
- 9 February, 2026: Injury pain. Sadly for Grealish and Everton supporters, he would suffer a season-ending foot injury just weeks into 2026. He would later post a picture from his hospital bed on social media to confirm he had undergone surgery.
