Angus Kinnear’s latest Everton update paints a grim picture for Tyler Dibling
Angus Kinnear’s newest update on Everton has left even more question marks over Tyler Dibling’s future.
The Toffees signed the 20-year-old from Southampton in a £42million deal last summer, but he has not had the impact that was expected.
He has played 14 times, with no goals or assists, and it appears that the Blues have given up on the youngster already.
There is already talk of a return to the Saints, amid his struggles at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and it would not be a surprise to see him exit.
Everton took a gamble on Dibling, but it has not paid off, and Kinnear’s words or lack of, paint a grim picture.

What did Kinnear say about Everton’s business?
Kinnear has overhauled Everton since coming last summer, with the recruitment department seeing a lot of change.
They were still able to get plenty of business done before the start of the season, and the CEO commented on that, and he did not even mention Dibling.
Speaking in his programme notes for the Sunderland clash, he said: “The squad construction, off a challenging base of only 12 contracted players in July 2025, has been largely successful.
“Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall brought us immediate impact and quality, whilst Thierno Barry and Merlin Rohl have shown they have the potential to both be Everton starters, whilst highlighting the patience we need to exhibit if we are going to be serious about nurturing emerging talent.”
Why is it so damning for Dibling’s future?
Kinnear’s latest update is damning for the young outcast, as the likes of Rohl and Barry were mentioned as promising talents, but failed to name him.
Considering that he was the most expensive of the trio, with the most hype surrounding his potential, that is rather telling.
| Dibling’s stats at Everton | Premier League |
| Appearances | 14 |
| Goals/Assists | 0 |
| Total shots | 0.3 |
| Key passes | 0.3 |
| Cross accuracy | 14% |
| Dribble success | 48% |
It surely suggests that he is finished on Merseyside, as he would have been mentioned if he were a part of the plans going forward.
It would be the best outcome for all parties, as he would have broken into the side by now if he were that good, especially with Jack Grealish being ruled out from January onwards.
However, he has been unable to earn David Moyes‘ trust, and has sat on the bench for the majority of his first campaign in L3.
While the Scotsman is known to bed young talents in slowly, he would have done so by now if Dibling had impressed in training and shown the right attitude.
The Toffees have an interesting dilemma over his future in the summer, if they can recoup the money that they paid, it would be a no-brainer to sell.
