What did Kinnear say about Finch Farm plans?
Kinnear has overseen plenty of change since joining Everton, and the academy has been one element of that.
He has hired staff specifically to focus on it, and several youngsters have been tied down to new contracts, and he used Harrison Armstrong as an example of the direction he wants to go in.
Speaking in his programme notes ahead of the Sunderland clash, he addressed the state of Finch Farm, saying:
How Everton can get more youth into the squad
Dean Rastrick was hired as the new academy director in April, and he will be able to pick out the best loan moves, find the best gems and plot out a route to the first team for the most talented prospects.
His appointment should help bring the youth ranks more in line with the senior side, so that the adjustment between the teams should be a lot easier.
George Pickford, Braiden Graham and Demi Akarakiri are some of the most exciting players in the academy at the moment, and hopefully, with Kinnear’s focus on youth and Rastrick’s help, they can make it into David Moyes‘ side at some point.

The Scotsman will likely be required to bring his guard down when it comes to youngsters if the dream is to be achieved, as he is reluctant to give them a chance.
Blues fans will likely love Kinnear’s plans for Finch Farm, though, as it signals that their best youth are set for a chance in the future, although, whether it is actually achievable remains to be seen.
