David Moyes’ future should be questioned as Everton face decisive summer

David Moyes has seen his Everton side go six games without a win when it truly mattered.

Mathematically, it’s still possible to achieve Europe, but in all honesty, Everton’s season was ended by their 3-1 defeat at home to Sunderland on Sunday.

But it wasn’t exactly an unforeseen result, given that the Toffees had failed to win any of their five games prior to the clash at Hill Dickinson.

It means that they head into next weekend’s game with very little left to play for, other than their own dignity.

However, for Moyes, there may still be plenty on the line, with his future at Everton likely to come under scrutiny.

Is David Moyes under pressure at Everton?

Moyes has done an excellent job since he returned to Everton, and that can’t be overlooked.

The Toffees had been fighting relegation in recent seasons, so for them to have been in the European conversation at all this campaign shows the progress that has been made.

With that said, there comes a point where that progress has to continue, and after leading his side to a six-game winless run, it will be questioned as to whether Moyes has the credentials to do that.

David Moyes Everton form

Since returning in 2025, Moyes’ side have picked up an average of 1.4 points per game, which is only 0.2 more than the West Ham side he managed back in 2018, where he was sacked after less than a year in charge.

Everton have big decision to make this summer

If Moyes stays at Everton, there can’t really be too many questions asked.

In the same sense, if the Scotsman is sacked, it will be somewhat understandable.

But the latter will only apply if the Toffees can bring someone else to Hill Dickinson capable of taking this team to the next level.

If there isnt total confidence in their ability to do so, then the smartest decision would be to stick with Moyes for another campaign.
