Everton eyes still on Emil Holm as Bologna to benefit from new announcement
Everton reportedly remain interested in signing Emil Holm, with Bologna hopeful his participation in the World Cup could help increase the right-back’s valuation.
Holm has spent the second half of the 2025-26 season on loan with Italian heavyweights Juventus.
However, he has made just seven appearances in all competitions, mainly from the substitutes’ bench, and Juve have no plans to sign him permanently.
Bologna are still hopeful of cashing in when the summer transfer window opens, with a new development potentially helping.
Holm was this week named in Sweden’s squad for the World Cup finals, meaning more eyes on the defender when the transfer window opens.

Emil Holm would tick a massive transfer box for Everton
Everton were first linked with Bologna ace Holm earlier this year, around the time it became clear Juve would not be triggering the option to sign him permanently.
In a new update via Italian outlet Il Resto del Carlino on Thursday, it is reported that Everton remain interested in Holm, as do fellow Premier League sides Brighton, Brentford and Sunderland.
| Emil Holm | 2025-26 Serie a stats |
| Appearances (starts) | 17 (10) |
| Dribble success | 47% |
| Duels won | 59% |
| Clean sheets | 1 |
| Sofascore rating | 6.84 |
The report adds that Bologna have welcomed news of Holm’s call-up to the Sweden squad for the World Cup as it is an announcement that will benefit both parties.
The player himself gets to showcase his talents on the biggest stage of them all, while Bologna will see his valuation increase should he impress.
David Moyes is in desperate need of a proper, recognised right-back in the summer window, with Holm very much ticking that box.
Everton know exactly type of right-back that’s needed
The worry when it comes to Holm is that his statistics are just not all that good this season.
There are surely better options out there, especially when paying in the region of £14million.

Everton have come up against a number of top-class right-backs this season, including Brentford’s Michael Kayode last month.
In that game, a 2-2 draw in West London, Kayode won five ground duels, recovered the ball three times, intercepted it twice and cleared it off the line once.
The 21-year-old also played one key pass, had 80 touches down the flank and registered 18 carries as he tried to get the ball forward.
This highlights both the defensive and attacking qualities a modern-day full-back needs. Jake O’Brien has filled in there and has his strengths, but a full-back he is not.
That is something that really needs to be addressed before the start of next season.
