Everton: Three players who could say farewell along with Seamus Coleman this weekend

Everton are eagerly awaiting the closure of the season on Sunday, as they face Tottenham Hotspur.

The Toffees have endured a dismal run of form since returning from the international break, blowing them out of the race for Europe.

Winless in six, the end of the term could not come sooner for David Moyes and his side.

There have been moments to remember, but ultimately, it feels like another wasted year at Finch Farm.

With skipper Seamus Coleman set to leave the club after Sunday’s clash, Goodison News takes a look at three more who could follow suit.

Thierno Barry could be set for immediate Everton departure

Joining the club from Villarreal last summer, it has been a difficult year for Thierno Barry at Everton.

His goal return is not the worst for a striker in his first year in England, but he has simply not hit the heights expected upon his arrival, with the Frenchman struggling overall in the Everton frontline.

Alongside this, the striker has faced questions about his inconsistency, while an incident involving some of his friends at Arsenal has done little to generate positive sentiment among the fanbase.

Having joined for almost £30million, the move has sadly failed to work out for any of the parties involved.

At 23, there is still room for growth. However, the Toffees are not in a position to wait, meaning Barry could be one of the first players to leave this summer, with Everton potentially keen to avoid seeing his value fall too far.

Offers could return for struggling Dwight McNeil

It has been a torrid year for Dwight McNeil, who missed the chance to reset his career in January after his deadline-day move to Crystal Palace fell through at the final hurdle.

Since then, he has been unable to turn his Everton form around, both in terms of performances and output.

Out on the flank, his displays have left a lot to be desired and have severely hampered the Blues’ push for Europe, potentially with his head elsewhere following the failed move.

Across 22 league appearances this season, McNeil has played 1,168 minutes and recorded just one assist.

Having featured for only two minutes across Everton’s last three matches, it is clear the winger is not in Moyes’ plans and will likely be set for a move away this summer after a failed departure at the turn of the year.

Everton are left with decision to make on Idrissa Gueye

Idrissa Gueye has brought huge value to Everton across his two spells at the club, having consistently served the club with distinction.

According to The Athletic, fresh discussions are still required because he has not yet reached the appearance threshold needed to activate an automatic renewal, with his current deal set to expire this summer.

That said, Gueye turns 37 in four months, with his best years very much a thing of the past.

He started 37 Premier League matches last season, but that figure has dropped to 25 in the current campaign, with only Sunday’s meeting with Tottenham left to play.

Given that decline, and with James Garner increasingly establishing himself as a strong midfield presence, it is difficult to see Gueye’s starting opportunities doing anything other than decreasing further.

Gueye may well be content to take on a reduced role considering his age, experience and standing within the squad.

But, Toffees fans would have no quarrels if Gueye chose to seek a club where he would play a more central role.
