David Moyes risks Everton sack with £60m repeat of Thierno Barry howler

Everton may have to consider the future of David Moyes if his transfer business follows last summer’s.

The Toffees are drifting towards a massively disappointing end to the Premier League season after so many positive spells.

It had looked as if European qualification would have been possible, but the campaign has just ebbed away with a string of frustrating results.

That has been thanks in part to the lack of strength in depth available on Merseyside compared to other sides in and around the Blues.

Thierno Barry is an example of a disappointing Everton deal, something Moyes can’t afford to repeat in the upcoming window.

Thierno Barry hasn’t worked out at Everton

There was certainly a need for a goalscoring number nine in L3 ahead of the current campaign as Beto’s struggles continued.

That sparked a move for the Frenchman at Villarreal as he looked set to become the future of the Toffees’ forward line, but it hasn’t worked out like that.

He has blown hot and cold in the Premier League and seems to be causing problems off the pitch that have impacted his on-field performances.

The number 11 may have scored eight goals this campaign, but he really should have had more.

His struggles in front of goal have been clear for all to see, and that is an issue that the Merseyside outfit really doesn’t need.

The deal for Barry doesn’t look good on Everton, so moving for another erratic striker in Will Osula could have dire consequences.

Will Osula deal could get David Moyes sacked

There is no doubt that Moyes has done superb work this campaign to drag his side up the Premier League after years of relegation battles.

That may prove to be his downfall moving forward as expectations rise at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

He will need to improve his squad with new signings over the summer, but signing Osula from Newcastle could be unwise.

The i Paper reported on Monday that it could take around £60million for the Magpies to even entertain talks, which is pretty wild for a player who has only scored seven goals this campaign.

Does that remind you of anyone?

Barry has only netted one more than the Dane, with both forwards being famed for their up-and-down form and erratic play style.

Bringing him in for £60m, using a large portion of any transfer budget in L3, could prove to be the end of the road for Moyes if things don’t go well.
