Everton: David Moyes to blame as Adam Aznou hints at World Cup devastation with emotional message

Everton manager David Moyes may have robbed Adam Aznou of being called up to this year’s World Cup with his country, Morocco.

The Toffees signed the left-back from Bayern Munich last summer in a deal worth around £8million, putting pen to paper on a long-term contract.

It’s been excruciatingly difficult for Aznou to break into the matchday squad under Moyes, let alone the starting lineup, as he’s made just one senior appearance for the Blues.

Everton fans have been hopeful of seeing the 19-year-old in action this season, but Moyes continued to play down the prospect of him ever making an impact anytime soon.

Now, Aznou’s dream of going to the World Cup could be over, as he’s suggested on social media that he already knows his fate ahead of Morocco’s official squad announcement on Tuesday.

Adam Aznou hints he already knows World Cup chance is off table

Moyes has prevented Aznou from getting any minutes at all in the Premier League, despite the youngster having such high potential.

It’s been a recurring theme seen at Hill Dickinson this term, with the likes of Tyler Dibling, Merlin Rohl, and other prospects struggling for a chance.

Aznou’s only Everton app vs Sunderland

Aznou’s only senior appearance for the Toffees came in the FA Cup third round defeat to Sunderland back in January, where he came off the bench to ironically win a penalty and give Moyes’ side a chance of victory.

It wasn’t meant to be after the Blues lost on penalties, but fans were hopeful that the teenager was going to be handed more deserved chances after that short cameo.

Now, the defender has responded to a post on X that suggested he will not be making the World Cup squad with his nation, Morocco, after not being selected to participate at the African Cup of Nations.

Aznou reacted by putting a sad emoji, which suggests that he may have already been told that he won’t be on the plan to North America this summer, with an official team announcement imminent.

Everton transfer plan suggests Aznou will leave with Moyes at helm

Everton have tied Mykolenko down to a new deal, as the Ukrainian will be the first-choice left-back for the foreseeable future.

However, reports have suggested that the Toffees will be in the market for cover in that position this year, despite Aznou being there already.

Perhaps Aznou will be loaned out, but with the way things are going, it’s hard to see how the Moroccan has a future at Hill Dickinson, so long as Moyes is in charge.
