Everton will have encouragement over Iliman Ndiaye future as Anthony Gordon to seal £69.3m transfer

Everton will be hoping to keep as many of their top stars this summer, with Iliman Ndiaye falling into that bracket.

Ndiaye is perhaps one of the Toffees’ more important players, with David Moyes not blessed with attacking talent.

The Senegalese winger is a highly regarded Premier League player, and interest in taking him away from Merseyside is sure to be rife.

After failing to secure European football, there may be some fears over their ability to keep Ndiaye at Hill Dickinson.

However, ahead of Everton’s summer window, they may be looking at deals elsewhere, including Anthony Gordon’s £69.3million move to Barcelona and feeling encouraged.

Why Everton will be encouraged about Iliman Ndiaye after Anthony Gordon news

Gordon is set to move to Barcelona in a move worth around £69.3m according to David Ornstein, in what looks to be the first major deal of the summer.

The move also holds implications for the Toffees, with Everton set to receive a portion of £24.3m profit the Geordies will bring in.

However, perhaps more importantly, those in L3 have now been given a gauge of the current state of the winger market.

If Gordon is being sold for £69.3m, then Everton will surely feel that any move away from the Toffees for Ndiaye will bring in a higher fee.

The 26-year-old outperformed Gordon in terms of goal contributions in the season just gone. Gordon achieved just eight (six goals, two assists), while Ndiaye secured nine (six goals, three assists)

Of course, priority number one is to keep the Senegalese international at Hill Dickinson Stadium, and the high price tag could put off other teams from making an approach.

Chelsea hold interest in Ndiaye, but the Stamford Bridge side also failed to qualify for European football next season.

The Everton fan favourite would now have to accrue quite a substantial fee in order to leave, with Gordon’s transfer setting the barometer on the market.

It is encouragement for Everton no matter which way Ndiaye’s future goes.

How much will Everton receive from Anthony Gordon deal?

Everton’s sell-on clause was set at 15 per cent of any profit that Newcastle made on selling Gordon.

The figures being reported in the media would leave the Toffees earning around £3.5m to £4m. It is not a game-changing figure for the L3 outfit, but it is still a welcomed boost.

After Gordon left on toxic terms back in 2023, many Evertonians would not have predicted him to be signing for one of the biggest clubs in the world in Barcelona.
