Mark Travers to seek Everton exit as lack of minutes haunts him after Ireland decision
Mark Travers’ game time has been limited at Everton thanks to the quality of Jordan Pickford between the sticks.
The former Bournemouth star joined the Toffees in the 2025 summer, knowing it would take something special to overcome England’s number one.
However, for his own international chances, it has seen him be consistently chosen to show up as Ireland’s number two.
His lack of game time had no bearing on that decision in the mind of manager Heimir Hallgrimsson.

Why Mark Travers may push for Everton exit now
Travers was called up to the recent international camp for Ireland, where they face off against Qatar tonight (28 May) and Canada on 6 June.
It was expected for Brentford shot-stopper Caomhin Kelleher to keep his place in net, with Hallgrimsson hinting towards a strong side.

What was also expected was for Travers to keep his place on the bench for the Boys in Green. However, that has not been the case.,
Ahead of the game at Aviva Stadium, the Everton goalkeeper has been left out of the matchday squad, with Hallgrimsson opting to select League of Ireland stars Ed McGinty and Conor Brann.

The two Irishmen are playing at a lower level than Travers, but the fact is they are playing. Both ‘keepers have started every game for their respective clubs, and that may have been the ultimate decider.
Travers may now look to seek guaranteed minutes elsewhere with his Ireland status thrown into danger.
What is the latest on a Mark Travers exit at Everton?
Travers would have been thinking about a possible exit from L3 after the Toffees were linked with another goalkeeper this summer.
Everton are reportedly eyeing a move for Balasz Toth, with the Blackburn Rovers ace impressing in the Championship this season.
If the Blues do make a play for another goalkeeper, that would signal clear intent and a clear pathway to allow Travers to seek another club.
While Hallgrimsson may simply be looking to provide two young uncapped Irish goalkeepers an experience with the squad, Travers will be feeling uncomfortable over the chance this could be a more common decision.
