Mark Travers will question Everton future amid ‘significant interest’ in Blackburn Rovers’ Balazs Toth
Mark Travers joined Everton knowing he would be playing second-fiddle to Jordan Pickford.
The England number one has been the Toffees’ shot-stopper since 2017, and it would take something special or a drastic downhill trend from Pickford to change that.
Travers has played just twice for the Merseyside outfit since his summer switch, with both games arriving in the Carabao Cup this season.
Travers has not featured since September but has routinely been on the bench in David Moyes’ squad.
However, ahead of Everton’s summer window, Travers may question his time at Hill Dickinson based on the latest transfer rumblings on Balasz Toth.

What has been said about Everton’s interest in Balasz Toth
Toth has endured a tough campaign with Blackburn Rovers, who were threatened by relegation this season.
However, the goalkeeper’s performance was key to keeping his side up in the Championship. Those displays have since caught the attention of many.
| Balasz Toth for Blackburn in the Championship | Total |
| Goals conceded per game | 1.3 |
| Save percentage | 68% |
| Goals prevented | -2.57 |
According to Hungarian outlet Csakfoci, Everton are one of the many clubs with “significant interest” in signing Toth.
Additionally, the Toffees are reportedly the only club that have approached the Championship side about a potential move.
If you were in Travers’ position, you would be questioning why the Blues are in the market for a 28-year-old goalkeeper.
Typically, if Toth were to arrive as a third choice, it would be a strange acquisition, with players of that ilk often being older talent.

Mark Travers will feel he has more to give
Although Travers will have known he was the understudy to Pickford, if Toth comes in to rival that position, the Irishman may feel the risk is not worth it.
Travers is sticking around in hopes he gets a chance to stake a claim for Everton’s number one in the event that the Englishman is not available.
Instead, he may not look to exit the club if they sign another ‘keeper of a similar age range to him.
At just 26 years old, there is plenty of time for the Irish international to forge a career elsewhere and play to a high level.
Time will tell what the Everton interest in Toth means, but on the surface it does not spell good news for Travers, who is contracted until 2029.
