Currys make brutal online dig at Everton after latest announcement
Everton have weirdly been the target of electrical and technology retailer Currys online.
The Friedkin Group's decision to sell, which emerged last Friday, has taken much of the headlines recently.
The American business group have made several savvy business decisions in recent years, to put the L3 club on firm financial footing.
They have signed deals with Pepsi and Budweiser and brought CMC Markets in as front of shirt sponsor.
Now, they have launched something else to try and bring more money into the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
However, it has been subject to ridicule from an unlikely source.
How Currys trolled Everton on social media
Everton took to social media to announce the launch of a new club-mobile network on Thursday.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall featured heavily in the promotion material, which includes 35GB of EU roaming in the £25-per-month plan.
UK retail giant Currys, who reported £191million in pre-tax profit for the year ending in May 2026, took aim at that part of the announcement.
Taking to their X account, which has 306,000 followers, the business said: "EU roaming feels ambitious."
It is a bizarre reaction to something that does not concern them, but brands will do anything for social media likes and engagements.
If anything, it shows that the Blues need to get themselves back into Europe, and shut down any attempted banter in the future.
How Everton can stop brands from making fun of them
If the Blues squad were not already motivated enough to try and prove the doubters wrong, they should be now.
They simply have to secure a path into Europe at the end of the campaign, so jokes about them not playing in continental football are put to bed.
If that happens, it would make them a much more enticing sale prospect, and the Friedkins would have a better chance to sell.
The chance to stop the Blues from being a laughing stock should be the main ambition, though.
That may require spending in the January window, so that Thierno Barry is not the only striker, and whether the ownership will do that, remains to be seen.
In an ideal world that is what happens, though, because then brands, or anybody, wouldn't be able to take cheap shots at the Merseysiders.
