AS Roma owner and director Dan Friedkin has expressed an interest in buying Everton, according to Alan Myers.

The Sky Sports journalist reported via X on Saturday (8 June) that Friedkin, who is worth £4.8billion ($6.1billion) is a contender for a takeover at Goodison Park.

The businessman has experience in the motor, film and hotel industries, and is reportedly interested in adding Everton to his list of business adventures.

The ongoing takeover situation at Goodison Park is an extremely frustrating one for the passionate fans of the football club, who just want to know that the Toffees are safe.

With 777 Partners' bid falling through, a number of alternatives have been mooted over the past few weeks. Andy Bell and George Downing are said to be interested, while rumours continue to circle around John Textor.

However, John Textor has confirmed to Goodison News that he is not a front-runner to buy Everton and never was, leaving him out of the situation for now.

Friedkin could certainly be a decent option, with his experience of running AS Roma in Serie A, which could help transfer skills to the Premier League with the Toffees.

Whether the news is true or not, only Farhad Moshiri will know. And given the stick he has received for his lack of communication throughout the takeover ordeal, it is unlikely that fans will find out either.

Considering the club's current financial status, it is vital that Moshiri finds a buyer as soon as possible, though, after the saga with 777 Partners, he must ensure that the deal is right for Everton.
