David Moyes' stance on Jarrad Branthwaite's Everton future has been made slightly clearer after a contract update.

Branthwaite has been one of the Toffees' top-performers in recent seasons.

As a result, top clubs have taken notice of the centre-back, such as Real Madrid, who have discussed the possibility of reuniting Branthwaite with Carlo Ancelotti [TEAMtalk]

A switch to Everton's fierce rivals Liverpool could also tempt Branthwaite.

However, Moyes' side are keen to avoid losing the defender. Therefore, they could offer him as much as £150,000-a-week to remain at Everton, and some clarity has emerged on whether or not Branthwaite would entertain such discussions.

Branthwaite open to signing new contract with Everton

As reported by Lyall Thomas via X (28 February), Branthwaite would be open to discussing a new contract with Everton.

This is despite beliefs that Branthwaite is keen to test himself at a new level [Daily Mail].

And ex-Goodison scout Bryan King - speaking exclusively to Goodison News - believes Moyes is keen to keep hold of the 22-year-old.

"Branthwaite signing a new contract would be a great move for Everton," King said.

"I'd imagine it is Moyes who wants Branthwaite to sign this new deal. Why would he want to sell one of his better players? He will be looking for the club to push on next season.

"Moyes will want his best homegrown players to be part of that, and I think there will be a good chance that Branthwaite would want to stay and continue working under Moyes. Branthwaite should remain at Everton

Branthwaite is still incredibly young, which is easy to forget considering his mature performances this term. Therefore, it might be too soon for a move to a club as big as Real Madrid.

As a result, the young Englishman might be better suited remaining with Everton and continuing to learn his trade under Moyes.

And if this means a few more years of service from the defender, it is hard to see many fans being against Branthwaite signing a new contract.
