Everton are reportedly set to sit down and negotiate with the Premier League as they're facing a possible points deduction.

According to The Daily Mail, there are fears within the club that they could be the first top-flight side in England to breach the sustainability rules.

This comes after they suffered a £260million loss between 2017 and 2020 which is £155million more than is allowed over a three-year period.

Trouble on the cards?

While nothing has been made official, this is still big news and something that Everton should be worried about.

The Toffees have played it fast and loose with FFP and now it's coming back to hit them in the foot.

Hopefully, they manage to wiggle their way out of it by conversations with the Premier League.

What other sanctions they're likely to impose will be anyone's guess, but it certainly would be better than a points deduction.

The league has set a deadline for later this month (March) so the Toffees need to do all they can to sort this mess out within the coming days.

We do not know what the Toffees have to do but there certainly will be major developments from now until the end of the month and Farhad Moshiri knows he's going to have his work cut out.
