Angus Kinnear is planning a major shake-up behind-the-scenes at Everton, but it is a shake-up which will cost the Toffees money.

Everton are set for a summer of change under The Friedkin Group.

Not only is the club moving from Goodison Park to Bramley-Moore Dock, but the Toffees are also set to welcome Kinnear from Leeds as the new CEO on 1 June.

Kevin Thelwell is also set to leave Everton at the end of the season as Kinnear plans a major shake-up to the Toffees' transfer team, which could come as a blow to Leeds United.

Kinnear wants to hire Leeds duo

As reported by Alan Nixon via his Patreon (16 March), Kinnear wants to bring two Leeds United staff members with him to Everton.

While Moyes wants to hire Rob Newman and Mick Doherty, the incoming Everton CEO is keen to recruit Leeds' top adviser Nicky Hammond and leading scout Gary Penrice, who would both be put in charge of transfers on Merseyside.

However, ex-Goodison scout Bryan King - speaking exclusively to Goodison News - thinks the Toffees will be required to pay Leeds a fee for the backroom duo.

"I presume that Everton will have to buy these two out of their contracts," King said.

"If that is the case, then Hammond and Penrice are going to be under pressure to produce in their first season. They're going to need to work closely with David Moyes and his staff.

"There will be no player coming to that football club unless Moyes agrees, I'll tell you that now."

Kinnear and Moyes fallout could be on the cards at Everton

Moyes is a manager who enjoys having control. Therefore, he is unlikely to take too kindly to Kinnear overruling him when it comes to backroom hires.

However, it looks as though the 61-year-old has no choice but to accept this, which could potentially lead to a bit of a falling out down the line as a power struggle ensues at Everton.
