Alan Myers has admitted he wouldn't be surprised to see John Textor or the Manoukian Group try to take over Everton after new developments at Goodison Park.

The Toffees have confirmed talks had ended with the Friedkin Group with Toffees insider Bryan King telling Goodison News on 7 July that the deal hit a "stumbling block" due to money owed to 777 Partners.

Both Textor and Manoukian had been interested in acquiring the Blues before Friedkin entered a period of exclusivity with Farhad Moshiri and Sky Sports journalist Myers believes both parties may return to Goodison.

Writing on X on Friday (19 July) Myers said: "It wouldn’t surprise me if Manoukian group and Textor come back, in the end it’s who’s willing to pay the money."

Who is going to take over Everton after new Friedkin update?

It does feel as though the race to take over from Moshiri at Goodison Park has been blown wide open once again following these new developments in the last couple of days on Merseyside.

While there is a belief that the Friedkin Group may not be completely out of the fold despite this latest setback, parties like Textor and the Manoukian consortium will be licking their lips once again.

But as Myers suggests, it basically now comes down to who is willing to pay what Moshiri is looking for, whilst also taking on the debt that is owed to 777 Partners and other creditors which has caused so much trouble already.

Hopefully, somebody will step forward to complete a takeover sooner rather than later as while the Toffees have enough funding for the immediate future, that will not be the case forever.

Let's hope Myers is right and several parties enter the fold once again in the coming weeks before things get too messy.
