Manchester City will be keen to take note of ongoings at Everton.

Burnley look to have won a legal case against the Toffees over previous PSR breaches stretching back to 2022, when they were relegated.

Manchester City, on the other hand, remain involved in a tense legal battle with the Premier League.

In February 2023, the Citizens were charged with 115 alleged breaches of the regulations, and a verdict has still somehow not yet been given.

Since the initial allegations, the Manchester club have continued their spell at the top of the English game - winning the treble in the very same season.

But now, given the fresh circumstances at Hill Dickinson Stadium, the 10-time English champions may just be wondering what is to come.

Everton handed punishment that will have Manchester City sweating

According to reports from The Lawyer, Burnley have won their legal case against the Blues following the Blues' 2022 relegation from the Premier League.

It is said that it will cost Everton almost £40million in damages, with the Clarets fighting back.

Everton are expected to appeal, with Burnley claiming that if the six-point deduction was given in the same season, they'd have stayed up.

It is a legal first which is calculated by the value of the lost opportunity and the likelihood of success.

Where do Man City come into this?

This ruling is now set to play a "significant" part in the future of FFP disputes in the Premier League.

Man City are at the top of that list with their 115 charges.

While allegedly breaking the rules, City continued to dominate English football under Pep Guardiola, winning several pieces of silverware.

It is now said that several top Premier League clubs are lining up counsel to sue for compensation if they're found guilty.

With Everton and Burnley's the first of its kind, there is no doubt that it'll be used in any legal argument coming up, especially in the next couple of years.

Despite the latest outcome, though, Everton are hoping their appeal is heard before the end of the year.
