Everton have been put on the market by The Friedkin Group.

TFG purchased Everton via its UK investment company Roundhouse Capital in December 2024.

As a result, the Houston-based company purchased Farhad Moshiri's 94 per cent stake in the Toffees.

Since then, they've been fundamental in pushing through the move to Hill Dickinson Stadium, marking an exciting new chapter in the club's history.

However, TFG did come under significant fire from many Evertonians for the way in which this summer's transfer window was handled.

And now, Everton's owners seem ready to pass the baton on to someone else.

What are TFG looking for in a prospective new Everton owner?

The Athletic's David Ornstein has revealed on Friday that TFG are open to a full sale of Everton.

However, he claims that Everton's owners are only interested in selling full control of the club if they feel the new owner would be the right person to take the Toffees to new heights.

If that's not the case, Ornstein's report claims that TFG will be totally content to keep hold of Everton until such a buyer is found.

As well as owning Italian giants Roma and French side AS Cannes, the Friedkins are also setting up an NHL (National Hockey League) team in Houston.

The creation of a new franchise is said to be costing them around $3.5billion (£2.6n), and so perhaps this will become their main focus moving forward.

But how do TFG feel about the work they've done as custodians of Everton since they took over?

Why TFG have "pride" in Everton work they've done

TFG's reign as Everton owners and the job they've performed in the role is a divisive one amongst Toffees fans.

One the one hand, Hill Dickinson Stadium is superb, and progress does appear to be happening on the pitch under David Moyes.

On the flip side, however, big players like Iliman Ndiaye are still being sold, whilst they didn't cover themselves in glory with how the summer window ended.

Indeed, fans had to protest the proposed sale of Harrison Armstrong in order to change TFG's mind, whilst the squad has been left thin due to numerous late sales.

As quoted in the aforementioned report from The Athletic, however, TFG do feel proud at the work they've done as Everton owners.

Ornstein claims that TFG "has a feeling of pride" at how they've been able to calm the waters at the club, stabilising it and now making it an attractive proposition on the market.
