Everton: Nathan Patterson injury update emerges as 'wafer thin' verdict dropped

Nathan Patterson only has a "wafer thin" chance of playing for Everton again this season after the injury he suffered against Chelsea, according to the Daily Mail.

Writing on their website (18 April), the news outlet reported that the Scotland international will travel to London for a scan on the hamstring injury he picked up towards the end of the 6-0 defeat.

And the Toffee expect to find out the extent of his injury over the weekend, with sources suggesting his chances of representing his country at Euro 2024 are now "wafer thin".

Injury crisis for Everton at the worst possible time?

Everton have had a rough season both on and off the pitch, and they're currently on a run of just one win in 15 games despite having most of their squad available.

But the 6-0 defeat to Chelsea was made even worse when all of Jarrad Branthwaite, Seamus Coleman and Nathan Patterson were forced off with different problems.

Ben Godfrey's run at right-back was in the middle of this winless run of games, while Ashley Young is the only other alternative and his form hasn't been very good either.

Patterson would have offered a natural right-back option, but someone young, hungry and with a bit more energy and quality about him heading into the final games.

If he's now out for the rest of the season, which seems to be the case, his Toffees career could well be over and Dyche is going to be forced to find new solutions with time running out to secure safety.
