Everton are preparing to get back to winning ways on Monday after a poor September to date.

David Moyes’ side are still without a win this month despite having a bright start to their new campaign.

Since the international break, the Toffees have lost the Merseyside derby and were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Wolves.

As a result, criticism is rife at the moment, with Everton needing a result against West Ham on Monday.

Therefore, Goodison News has rounded up all of the latest news below.

Bryan King: Vitalii Mykolenko has weeks to prove he should stay at Everton

One star who has had a difficult campaign to date is Vitalii Mykolenko.

The left-back has spent most of the season so far on the sidelines after struggling for fitness.

However, when the Ukrainian international has been on the pitch for the Toffees, he has been poor, particularly in the defeat to Liverpool.

  • Mykolenko has spent much of this season on the sidelines
  • The left-back made his comeback once again against Liverpool
  • However, Mykolenko did not impress at Anfield

“I think it’s very difficult at this stage because he’s been injured and he’s had a tough pre-season,” King said.

“He was injured during pre-season, and that’s never a good sign for a player.

“Now he’s back, he’s had his first game, and it was some game to come back into.

“Everton are a long way away from Liverpool. I don’t think Mykolenko was the only problem on the day; there were two or three players who were found wanting on the day.

“So, I’d give him another couple of games before I made any sort of decisions on him, because look at the players that he had running at him. You aren’t going to get much better than them in the Premier League.”

David Moyes provides injury update ahead of Everton vs West Ham

Looking ahead towards Monday’s game, Everton are in dire need of a result.

West Ham are awful at the moment, and Moyes will be expected to take all three points.

He said: “Fine, he will not be available for Monday, neither is Merlin [Rohl].

“Not at the moment, we are expecting him back shortly, but not yet.”

While Everton are the favourites for the West Ham clash, a win is not guaranteed.

Graham Potter is in desperate need of a win, with the Hammers manager under heavy pressure.

On top of this, in recent times, Everton have struggled against West Ham, especially when Moyes was in the opposing dugout.

  • West Ham have had a difficult start to the season
  • Potter has only won one game in all competitions this campaign, losing the rest
  • Everton are expected to win against the Hammers on Monday

He said: “Monday Night Football closes out the action, as Everton take on West Ham United.

“All eyes of course, on David Moyes for this one, loved by Evertonians, less so by West Ham fans, although, absence is making the heart grow just a little fonder.

“The Hammers often did well at Goodison Park, with four wins in their last seven visits, but Everton have started the season so well, I have to go for them to win for a second Premier League game at their new stadium.

“I am going Everton 1-0 West Ham.”
