Sean Dyche is hopeful that the injury Everton ace Dwight McNeil suffered in their clash against Fulham on Saturday (26 October) isn't "too serious".

The attacker limped off the pitch in the 86th minute after putting in a decent display against the Cottagers and was seen shaking his head towards his manager after being asked if he could carry on in a match that ended 1-1 at Goodison Park.

Speaking to the Liverpool ECHO (26 October), the Toffees boss shared an update on McNeil's injury status.

“He obviously had to come off, he was on the edge so hopefully it is not too serious," he said.

Everton need Dwight McNeil back to full fitness

This season, Dwight McNeil has arguably been one of Everton's most important players.

The attacker has been played in a more central role by Dyche and it feels like they've signed a new player.

His vision, passing and ability to dribble his way through defensive lines have been a sight to behold this season, especially in the Toffees' 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.

McNeil has been the main reason why the Toffees haven't been dragged into a relegation battle over the last few weeks and without the Englishman in their starting XI, it's hard to see where their attacks are going to come from.

Of course, Jesper Lindstrom is a player Dyche could look towards but in the games he's played this season, things haven't quite gone to plan.

There are six days until Everton's next Premier League clash against Southampton (2 November) and, by then, Dyche will no doubt be hoping for some positive news regarding the availability of his playmaker.
