Alan Shearer has named Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure in his Premier League Team of the Week after the club’s win against Bournemouth.

The Toffees ace was on the scoresheet as Sean Dyche’s outfit won the match 3-0 at Goodison Park on Saturday (7 October).

The midfielder netted in the 60th minute, with James Garner and Jack Harrison scoring after eight and 37 minutes respectively.

Discussing Doucoure, Shearer told the official Premier League website: “Ran the midfield and got into the box to score, wrapping up a much-needed first home win for Everton.”

Doucoure was everywhere in the huge win against the Cherries, with the three points sending the Toffees to 16th place in the table. He broke up play well, as well as distributing the ball expertly, helping his club to a massive win at Goodison Park.

Everton supporters have not had anything to cheer about in terms of home performances this season, with the win against Bournemouth the club’s first Goodison Park league victory of the current campaign.

That has been the same case away from home, with Dyche guiding his men to just one win on the road, a 3-1 victory against Brentford last month.

The man in the dugout will be desperate for some momentum now, but unfortunately that could be halted due to the impending international break.

Still, he will absolutely welcome the hard-fought three points with open arms, and will be eager for a similar feeling in their next game, which is a huge Merseyside Derby against Liverpool.
