Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret is likely to join Everton in the upcoming summer transfer window, according to journalist Umberto Chiarello.

The Italian giants are almost guaranteed to cut ties with five of their first-team players, including Kalidou Koulibaly.

Chiarello has claimed that Meret could cost around £17million and that Carlo Ancelotti is a big admirer after his time in Naples.

Speaking to Area Napoli, Chiarello made the huge transfer admission that the keeper is likely to follow Ancelotti to Merseyside.

"Alex Meret is also there. Carlo Ancelotti wants to take him to Everton," he said.

"Meret sells it for about £17million because the market value is lowered.  I am sure Ancelotti wants it, it is sure news. Likely to follow him to Liverpool. With Ancelotti, he was more titular than Ospina."

Olsen out, Meret in.

It has been reported by the Mail that Olsen may not want to remain at Goodison Park beyond this season after a recent break-in to his house, with a return to Roma more likely.

Meret could be the perfect replacement to come in and offer that competition for Jordan Pickford, who has been less than convincing this season.

The 24-year-old has started 12 Serie A games during this campaign, as well as five in the Europa League, and has had to watch David Ospina more times than not.

Ancelotti wants better options in his squad and spending around £17million could be considered a bargain in this current market.

Napoli are looking to part ways with a number of their players this summer, and it appears as though the Toffees and Ancelotti are ready to take advantage.
