Ahead of the showdown, Jordan Pickford was the centre of attention as he made his first appearance against his former side in Sunderland since joining the Toffees in 2017.
The goalkeeper has now commented on social media after the game.

As Pickford walked out at the Stadium of Light, his son was seen wearing a half-and-half top with both Sunderland and Everton shirts on either side.
The England goalkeeper clearly still has a deep affiliation with the Black Cats and will never forget his roots, thanking the fans at full-time.

Taking to Instagram, Pickford shared a 33-word message after Everton's draw, which was mainly directed at Sunderland and their fans.
Pickford said: "A special night back at the Stadium of Light. Fifteen years as a kid here, first time back as an Everton player, proud to share it with my lad. Football comes full circle."
The Black Cats responded with several love hearts in the comments.
It's been a long time since Pickford last played at the Stadium of Light, as both Sunderland and Everton fans can be proud of how far the goalkeeper has come.

The Premier League is arguably the best division in the world, and Pickford has played in England's top flight for 11 consecutive seasons.
During that time, Pickford has seen relegation with Sunderland, but then established himself as a top Premier League player with Everton, playing an integral role many times in saving the Toffees.
