Ally McCoist shares 'disaster' verdict as new Everton relegation prediction made

Ally McCoist stated that relegation from the Premier League would be a "disaster" for Everton but believes Sean Dyche's team will be safe this season.

The Toffees have endured a tough start to the new Premier League campaign, losing 3-0 to Brighton at Goodison Park before travelling to North London, being condemned to a 4-0 defeat by Tottenham.

With Dyche's men getting their first victory of the season against Doncaster Rovers in the EFL Cup on Tuesday 27 August, McCoist and Alan Brazil are adamant that the Toffees will avoid the dropzone again.

Speaking live via talkSPORT on Wednesday (28 August, 6:13am), Brazil said: "I'm not worried about Everton this season. They've had a poor start but they'll pick up."

McCoist replied: "I think so, mate. I really, really hope so. It'll be a disaster if they go to their new stadium and they're not in the top flight. I don't think it'll happen.

"It's not been a good start, losing 3-0 at home to Brighton before the poor result against Tottenham, but I just think once it all settles, especially with the crowd behind them at home, I do think they'll be OK.

"I can definitely understand the concerns but I hope Sean Dyche and the boys are OK. I think they will."

Sean Dyche to lead Everton to Premier League safety again?

Dyche has already worked wonders on Merseyside, especially last season as the Toffees finished 14 points above the relegation zone despite being deducted a total of eight points due to PSR breaches.

Pressure already looks to be building on the former Burnley manager, though many have come to his defence after the first couple of Premier League fixtures ended on a sour note.

The recent outburst from fans at exit-linked striker Neal Maupay has certainly done nobody at Goodison Park any favours, and it is clear to see that emotions are running high at the club.

That, combined with the uncertainty surrounding John Textor's takeover of the club, has led to a lot of unhappy fans, and much of that has been shoved onto Dyche's shoulders.

Everton will need to start picking up points quickly, there is no doubt about that, but there are another 36 matches for the squad to make things right and secure Premier League safety.
