David Moyes will be loving the fact that Vitalii Mykolenko was left on the bench during Ukraine’s 4-0 defeat to France on Thursday.

The full-back is one of many Everton players who are away on international duty at present.

It was a tough start to the season for Mykolenko, with the Everton star struggling with injuries.

However, he has since reclaimed his spot in the lineup, starting in the last seven Premier League matches.

Now, the Ukrainian is looking to continue this streak for his country, but was left on the bench for their World Cup qualifying defeat.

David Moyes will be happy that Vitalii Mykolenko was not risked 

As previously mentioned, the full-back had struggled with injuries at the start of the campaign.

When Mykolenko was with Ukraine in August, he picked up another injury, which ruled him out of further matches for the Toffees.

Therefore, Moyes will be delighted that the full-back was rested as Ukraine lost 4-0 to France.

With a tough set of games on the horizon for Everton, the Scotsman needs as many players as possible fit and ready for the busy festive period.

The importance of the full-back cannot be understated, with Jermain Defoe labelling Mykolenko as "fantastic" during Everton's recent win over Fulham.

Moving up the Premier League table is vital and the Ukrainian will be key to achieving this.

When do Ukraine and Mykolenko next play?

The next opportunity for Mykolenko to play for Ukraine comes on Sunday. The Eastern European side hosts Iceland in what is a crucial World Cup qualifier match.

If they win, they will finish second in the group and still have a shot of getting to the summer tournament.

However, anything less than three points, and Ukraine will finish third, missing out on the upcoming World Cup.

It remains to be seen if Mykolenko is used in the upcoming match as the Eastern European side look to reach their first World Cup since 2006.
