Everton ace Amadou Onana sends one-word message to Anthony Elanga after Manchester United exit
Everton midfielder Amadou Onana has sent a one-word message to Anthony Elanga after his exit from Manchester United.
The 21-year-old Sweden international has left Erik ten Hag's side to join fellow Premier League club Nottingham Forest.
As confirmed by the official Nottingham Forest website, Elanga has joined on a five-year deal, keeping him at The City Ground until the summer of 2028.
Sending a thank you message to Manchester United, Elanga wrote on Instagram: “There are not enough words to properly thank you for the unbelievable support.
“It is the right time now for the perfect next step in my career. I’m someone who lives for football and I need to be on the pitch every week doing what I love. I’m 100% ready to get started, excited for what comes next and as determined as ever to succeed!”
Commenting on the post, Everton midfielder Onana wrote: “Baller.”
Exciting signing
Elanga could have been teaming up with Onana at Goodison Park next season, but the former opted against moving to the Toffees due to favouring Steve Cooper’s playing style over Sean Dyche’s, according to Daily Mail journalist Mike Keegan (24 July).
But now Onana looks set to be playing against the young winger next season, with Elanga expected to get his wish of more playing time at his new club.
It is unfortunate for the Toffees, who could definitely do with young and exciting talents like Elanga, who boasts over 50 appearances for Manchester United in his brief career.
The winger’s move to Nottingham Forest means Dyche must now look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements, although the manager may now be satisfied with his options out wide after the arrivals of Ashley Young and Arnaut Danjuma.
The versatile duo can both play on the wing, but in more recent times the former has played at full-back and the latter has played as a centre-forward.
