Steve Hitchen remains a strong contender to be the Director of Football at Everton, according to The Athletic.

In his recent piece, Patrick Boyland claims that he continues to remain a strong contender to take over.

After leaving his role at Tottenham Hotspur, the Englishman has not taken up another position which is a good indication that his inclining towards a Goodison Park switch.

Good move

Hitchen is an extremely strong candidate for the role, having proven himself at Spurs.

Under Mauricio Pochettino he played the role of chief scout and then moved on to a more technical role after that.

Marcel Brands' tenure was a disastrous one so that's probably why the club are taking their time to hire his replacement.

There's no particular rush and a final decision can be made at the end of the season as well.

A new manager has already come in and he's brought his preferred coaches through the door.

There certainly needs to be some restructuring that needs to be done but that will happen in the due course.

Hopefully, Hitchen proves to be a good appointment and gets this club back on track.

There is an incentive to get things and he will be given the adequate funds to thrive at Goodison Park.
