Ben Foster has tipped Jordan Pickford for the December Player of the Month after a run of "fantastic" Everton performances.

The 30-year-old has been a mainstay for the Toffees over the last few seasons, ever since his 2017 move from Sunderland, totalling nearly 300 appearances in Blue.

Pickford has continued to catch the eye during the month of December as Sean Dyche's side claimed draws against Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City and beat Wolves.

Speaking via the Fozcast [27 December], Foster said: "Can I give Jordan Pickford a bit of love? We didn't say anything, but Pickford for Everton, should be up for Player of the Month.

"He's been fantastic. The clean sheets he's had, the run of performances, the saved penalty [v Manchester City], he's been absolutely fantastic - massive for Everton."

With three clean sheets in his last four appearances, it will be difficult for many to argue against the shot-stopper being one of the most in-form players in the division right now.

However, the Toffees are still just three points above the relegation zone, starting the month with a tough 4-0 loss to Manchester United and finishing it by welcoming Nottingham Forest to Goodison Park.

Things could be even worse for Dyche's team, though, without Pickford in between the sticks or the centre-back pairing of Jarrad Branthwaite and James Tarkowski.

Pickford is unlikely to win the Premier League's award for December Player of the Month, with the Toffees often overlooked due to their place in the table, but it is nice to see him getting the recognition he deserves.

Of course, Foster is always going to praise his fellow goalkeepers, especially when he seems to get little love from others, but no one can disagree that Pickford has been at the very top of his game recently.
