Everton’s impending clash against Liverpool has resulted in plenty of news surrounding the Merseyside club.

The Toffees are looking to pick up their first win at Anfield since 2021 on Saturday as they prepare for their first derby of the season.

However, with both teams on form going into the match, it is no doubt going to be a close game.

Met Office issues yellow rain warning for Liverpool vs Everton

One of the biggest concerns surrounding the derby is no doubt the weather.

In the 2024/25 campaign, Everton’s match against Liverpool had to be rearranged due to Storm Darragh.

Now, there are fears that this could be repeated.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for rain ahead of Saturday’s Merseyside derby.

However, the website also clarifies that the warning has a very low likelihood and only a medium impact. Therefore, the match should go ahead without issue.

Robbie Fowler admits he played for Everton

Robbie Fowler is obviously an unpopular figure on the blue side of Merseyside.

The striker went on to become a Liverpool legend after signing in 1993 and would score 181 goals for the Reds, winning the FA Cup and the League Cup twice. 

Now, Fowler has admitted that he once played for Everton as a boy before the move to Liverpool.

“I actually played a game for Everton. I was 14 and played an Under-18 game, and I came on as a sub,” he said.

“I mean, I was tiny. I’m not the biggest now, but I was tiny when I was 14 playing in this U18 game. I think we won the game, so I have actually worn a shirt for Everton. I don’t think I’ve ever told anyone this.

“I actually wore an Everton shirt and won a game at Bellefield, and I almost scored a diving header at 14. I never scored, we won the game, never scored, but I think that’s the one and only time I played for Everton.”

West Ham consider former Everton men Slaven Bilic and Sean Dyche

Elsewhere in the Premier League, West Ham are in shambles. 

The Hammers’ appointment of Graham Potter has not been a success so far, with the former Chelsea boss overseeing four losses in five games in all competitions this season.

Now, it has ben reported that former Everton star Slaven Bilic and manager Sean Dyche are being considered for the West Ham job.

The duo are contenders for the position alongside the recently sacked Nuno Espirito Santo if Potter is unable to turn results around.
