Everton are reportedly keen on signing Lazio striker Valentin Castellanos, as a new number nine is the priority this summer.

Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has assessed the Argentina international's fitness and availability over the 2024/25 campaign ahead of a potential transfer.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin set to leave Everton, signing a replacement is a priority for them.

Armando Broja also returned to Chelsea and will not be at the Hill Dickinson Stadium next season.

Castellanos' adductor injury issues may be a problem

The Toffees may look to examine his adductor injuries further before making a decision on signing him, according to Dr Brar.

The 26-year-old has been likened to Didier Droba and does have impressive numbers in terms of goals and assists in his career.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Dr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said about Castellanos: "Everton may take a closer look at his recurring adductor issues.

"He missed over a month last season due to injury issues, which isn’t great, but also not a deal breaker.

"If the club are happy with how he’s responded to the setbacks, then they should green light this deal."

Everton should seriously consider signing Castellanos

Castellanos would be an excellent signing for Everton due to his proven goal-scoring prowess and physical attributes, which suit the Premier League’s demands.

The 26-year-old scored 14 goals and provided eight assists in 38 appearances last season, showcasing his finishing and playmaking ability.

Compared to Drogba for his physicality and intelligence, he excels in aerial duels and hold-up play, fitting David Moyes’ direct tactical approach.

With Calvert-Lewin leaving and Beto’s inconsistency, Castellanos offers a reliable, versatile number nine to bolster Everton’s attack and elevate their top-half ambitions.
