However, Goodison News has learned that Calvert-Lewin will not be joining Atalanta.

Atalanta to pass up on Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin

A recruitment source with close links to Everton has revealed to Goodison News that Calvert-Lewin is no longer of interest to Atalanta.

The source has been told by someone with direct involvement in negotiations that the deal is off.

Goodison News understands that in a brutal twist, Atalanta do not think the striker is good enough to play for the club.

However, while a move to Atalanta is no longer on the table, Calvert-Lewin could still leave Goodison Park with a host of other clubs interested in the 27-year-old, including Newcastle United [via The Chronicle, 14 January, page 44].
