Isaac Heath enjoyed an impressive loan spell with Accrington Stanley last season, harbouring the potential for a pre-season chance with Everton.

The 21-year-old left wing-back has been with Everton since the age of 13, and has been progressing well through the Toffees' academy ranks.

He's turned plenty of heads inside Finch Farm over the past few years, becoming a key figure in Paul Tait's Under-21s side.

Indeed, Heath was even named as Everton's Under-21s Player of the Season for the 2024-25 campaign, after scoring twice and providing four assists in 17 Premier League 2 appearances.

This helped earn him his first big opportunity in the senior game, as he signed on a season-long loan for League Two side Accrington last summer.

Heath netted four times and registered four assists in 30 league appearances for Stanley in 2025-26, clearly proving himself to be a cut above at that level.

What were Isaac Heath's numbers like in 2025-26?

Upon return to Finch Farm following the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, Heath appears to be a talent in-demand.

It's been reported that a host of League One sides are pondering moves for the young Everton defender, putting his Hill Dickinson Stadium future into some doubt.

However, whilst Heath did enjoy some impressive performances in attack and put up strong underlying numbers in this department, the same can't be said for him defensively.

As per FotMob, his 38.9 per cent duels won average ranked him in the bottom three percentile of his positional rivals in League Two last season.

Meanwhile, Heath's 25.6 per cent aerial duels won put him in the bottom five per cent, whilst his 49 times dispossessed scored him in the lowest two per cent respectively.

On top of this, he was also dribbled past 14 times, made only 31 tackles and 26 clearances, as well as picking up six yellow cards with a total of 80 defensive contributions.

In attack, no League Two player in his position won more possessions in the final third than his 21 in 2025-26.

Heath's 50 successful dribbles and 131 touches in the opposition box put him in the top two percentile, whilst his 61 shots and 23 on target both ranked him in the leading three per cent respectively.

What is Heath's Everton contract situation?

So, it's pretty clear to see that whilst Heath is a talented player going forward, there's still plenty of work for him to do regarding his defensive abilities.

It's this current frailty that is sure to make David Moyes' decision to hand him a first-team chance at Everton fairly straightforward.

Heath doesn't appear to be a well-rounded enough player yet to throw into the deep end of the Premier League, and that's not ideal given the status of his Toffees contract.

After signing a new two-year deal in the summer of 2025, Heath is only contracted on Merseyside until next June.

So, Everton chiefs are going to have to make a decision on his Toffees future soon, and if his defensive numbers don't improve in 2026-27, it seems highly unlikely he'll be afforded more time with the Club.
