Everton told to explain what's going on with Jordan Pickford after what was spotted vs Tottenham
Jordan Pickford has caused some concern for Everton fans after the draw with Tottenham Hotspur.
The Toffees' number one had reason to celebrate in the goalless draw at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.
The 32-year-old kept his 100th Premier League clean sheet in the stalemate in North London, which preserved Everton's unbeaten record.
He became just the 19th goalkeeper to achieve the feat in the Premier League, though he remains well short of Petr Cech's record of 202.
However, eagle-eyed supporters noticed that Pickford may have been struggling during the game against Spurs.
With Everton now set to face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, the Toffees have been told to explain if there's something amiss with Pickford.
What was noticed about Jordan Pickford in Everton's draw vs Tottenham?
Former Everton defender Michael Ball noted in the Liverpool Echo that Pickford was seen jumping up and down and stamping his foot.
He added how it was affecting Pickford's kicking in the draw against Spurs, and how deputy Mark Travers was given a prolonged warm-up.
Last season, Everton were knocked out of the Carabao Cup at the same stage against Wolves after David Moyes made a series of changes.
Ball, writing in a different Liverpool Echo article, pondered whether Pickford might be rested given the knock he could be carrying.
But the former Toffees left-back wants an explanation on what is happening with Pickford is he does sit out the cup tie
Ball wrote: "If Jordan Pickford has got an injury, I think the club needs to come out and explain that.
"Everton need to protect him, but they also need to put the fanbase in the picture if he does miss the game and show that they’re still taking this competition seriously like both the owners and the supporters want."
Everton can't take Jordan Pickford risk vs Wolves
Everton will be desperate to make amends for the fiasco of last season's tie against Wolves.
It felt like a real opportunity was missed at the time, and Moyes copped some deserved flak for the limp defeat.
However, if Pickford is nursing an injury then this is not the game to take any risks with his fitness.
He is simply too important a player for Everton to lose, especially given how threadbare their sqaud is.
Travers is an experienced back-up, who has played regularly in the Premier League in the past.
It might be wise to give him a run-out here, especially given Everton have a home clash with Ipswich Town to think about on Saturday before heading into the international window.
