Everton are reportedly looking to sign Liverpool defender Joe Gomez in the summer.

According to 90Min journalist Graeme Bailey, the Toffees are eyeing a shock swoop for the England international.

It is understood that he is out of favour at Anfield and a summer move may very well be on the cards.

Everton

Bailey told Anfield Watch, "Liverpool and Klopp have a huge decision to make, and there are no shortage of clubs looking to land the 24-year-old. I am told Tottenham, Newcastle, West Ham, soon to be promoted Fulham, and Stanley Park neighbours Everton would all happily take Gomez.

"The issue for Gomez is that he is contracted to Liverpool until 2024, so the club don’t have to sell him – but will Klopp let him leave? That is the major question for the Anfield boss.

"They might be thinking Gomez is needed to replace Joel Matip at some point, but he is only 30 and has been brilliant this season – so that would very much be in the long-term, and as mentioned, Gomez is thinking about his short-term future."

Sign him

Roping in a player from Anfield may not be the most popular decision, but one must leave rivalries aside in times like these.

Gomez is a quality defender who's struggling to get game time at Liverpool, given their array of riches.

At Everton, he would be the best centre-back and would start week in and week out whenever he's fit.

Jurgen Klopp is also understood to be a huge admirer of his and has labelled him "sensational" in the past, per Liverpool’s website.

This summer may be the best chance for Everton to sign him and they must at least make an effort to bring him to Goodison Park.
