Ex-FIFA official reacts as controversial Everton footage v Bournemouth re-emerges

Everton's draw with Bournemouth proved to be controversial.

David Moyes' side rescued a late draw at the Vitality Stadium through a James Tarkowski header.

However, they could have taken all three points, if Chris Kavanagh awarded a penalty in the 55th minute of the contest.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was taken out in the box by James Hill, but the referee nor his VAR assistants gave the call in the Blues' favour.

The Premier League's Key Match Incidents panel has ruled on the incident, claiming that the call was correct.

Former FIFA official Keith Hackett has now had his say on what the panel decided.

Hackett, who is also a former chief of the PGMOL, believes that the ruling is the right one, after seeing footage re-emerge.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, he said: "I think looking at this incident again the Match Incident panel have reached the correct decision.

"The explanation that the defender was not aware of his opponent stacks up.

"So I agree with the panel on this with this viewing angle."

That is the ex-FIFA listed man's verdict, but has he stuck up for the Toffees in the past, or is he biased against them?

What is Hackett's record on Everton controversy?

Hackett is fair with his opinion and regularly supports Everton's battle with the officials.

He called out the organisation that he used the run, the PGMOL, after Dewsbury-Hall's suspension last season for five yellow cards, some of which were very contentious.

He also told the refereeing body to do their job after the decision to not give Thierno Barry a penalty in the clash with Arsenal last December.

The 82-year-old has regularly called on referee chief Howard Webb to meet with Moyes to discuss controversial incidents and criticised the lack of consistency when it comes to decision making.

He is likely sharing his genuine opinion on this matter, rather than just sticking up for his fellow referees, as many other observers often do.

The L3 outfit will simply have to accept this one and move on, as it is a pretty much consensus idea that it was not a spot kick on this occasion.
