The Friedkin Group will be forced to rethink their Everton CEO plans as Lina Souloukou is set to be hired by Nottingham Forest.

The Greek executive worked under the Friedkin Group at Roma and had been linked with a role at the Blues when the takeover is complete [The Esk].

However, the Toffees will have to look elsewhere as Souloukou is set to join her former boss at Olympiakos, Evangelos Marinakis, as part of his multi-club model with her main focus being the Premier League club [The Athletic, 7 December].

A big boardroom blow for Everton

Souloukou will not be a part of the boardroom overhaul that takes part when the Friedkins take over at Everton.

Getting the right people in place to run the club on a day-to-day basis is one of the most crucial aspects of the takeover.

A CEO with a familiarity to how the Friedkins work would have no doubt benefitted the Blues and helped make the transition a seamless one.

However, the circumstances behind her departure from Roma were controversial as she alienated supporters after sacking club legend Daniele de Rossi after eight months and just four games after he had secured the permanent job [22 September, The Athletic].

That may not have been a negative had she joined the Blues. Sean Dyche is under heavy pressure and is not a fan favourite, unlike De Rossi at the Italian club.

The Friedkin Group will now have to search for an alternative for the role, which adds to their ever-growing to-do list at Goodison Park.
