Gary Lineker and Micah Richards reached an agreement on their "awful" assessment of Everton ace Jordan Pickford after his England display.

The 30-year-old conceded twice to Vangelis Pavlidis on Thursday [10 October] including a 94 minute winner for Greece to secure a landmark victory for the hosts at Wembley in the UEFA Nations League.

Pickford looked suspect in The Three Lions' goal from the first whistle and Lineker and Pickford held nothing back when judging his performance on The Rest is Football [11 October, 14:02].

Richards said: "I love Pickford, but at the back when the ball came back to him he's like a nervous wreck. I was like come on Pickford, I'm your biggest fan but calm down please."

Lineker agreed: "He had an awful game."

Jordan Pickford needs to screw his head on for Everton and England

The UK media had their way with Pickford when the newspapers hit the stands on Friday morning and rightfully so, he was abysmal for England.

Sean Dyche will have watched on, wondering what happens next. While the Blues form in the Premier League isn't solely attributed to the goalkeeper, his form at club level has now followed him to the international stage.

In the space of a week, Pickford has turned from hero to villain after his heroic penalty save against former teammate Anthony Gordon in the 0-0 draw against Newcastle United at Goodison Park last weekend.

His antics on the pitch on Thursday night represent a wider problem for the Blues goalkeeper as Richards echoes the words of Paul Robinson, who also urged for more composure from the England number one.

The mistakes early into the first half did not result in a goal, thanks to Levi Colwill but set the tone for the rest of the match and the Greeks felt the hosts were there for the taking and capitalised on the opportunity.

Pickford has a chance to atone for his errors against Finland on Sunday [13 October] and it is paramount he does so, the last thing Dyche needs to worry about in his preparations for the clash against Ipswich Town is whether his undisputed shot-stopper will cause problems for his side.
