Harrison Armstrong may have been lucky to see out 90 minutes in Everton's dramatic draw against Manchester United.

The Toffees managed to battle back twice to earn a point at Hill Dickinson on Sunday after Ainsley Maitland-Niles' screamer ensured a 2-2 draw.

David Moyes had some big team selection decisions to make, and showed trust in several young stars and new signings.

Armstrong has clearly taken step forwards to get Moyes' attention, and has started well so far this campaign.

He will be an important player for the Blues this season, especially considering the lack of bodies in the squad.

However, what happened towards the end of Everton's game showed the most significant revelation, and it may not be good news for Armstrong.

How Harrison Armstrong could fall victim to Hayden Hackney excellence

Armstrong did not have a bad game against Michael Carrick's side.

The 19-year-old completed 89 per cent of his passes against the Red Devils, with 100 per cent dribbling accuracy, too.

He got stuck in defensively and held his own, which is important.

But Hayden Hackney's introduction came after James Garner was unable to continue playing - and the former was the game-changer.

He created two chances, one being the assist for Tyrique George's maiden Everton goal, which levelled the game for the first time, before being involved again for the stoppage-time equaliser.

Hackney looked to get Everton moving forward every time he had the ball, and looks like the type of player that the Toffees have missed for so long.

That said, when fit, Garner is undroppable, which leaves Armstrong as the unfortunate casualty.

What Everton fans should know about James Garner substitution

Angus Kinnear was not happy when Garner went off against Manchester United.

However, it could be that his replacement, Hackney, prevented the Toffees from losing.

Garner was holding his thigh, but as revealed by injury expert Ben Dinnery, the midfielder is 100 per cent okay for the game against Tottenham on Saturday.

It looks as though Garner's issue was purely cramp, and there is no sinister injury that Toffees fans should worry about.

This will mean that Moyes' midfield selection will surely be a headache.
